Overview & Highlights

If you're in Red Lion, PA, and craving a truly American dining experience, look no further than the Great American Saloon. Nestled in the heart of 20 Dairyland Square, this establishment offers vibrancy and comfort, alongside a menu that celebrates classic American fare with a delightful twist. With a welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff, this restaurant has quickly become a local favorite — and for good reason.

The saloon's appetizer selection sets the tone perfectly for what’s to come. Consider trying the Scotch Eggs, where hard-boiled eggs find comfort in their savory sausage blanket, served with a sweet honey mustard dipping sauce. At just US$7.95, it’s the perfect way to whet your appetite. If you lean towards something a bit more adventurous, the Seared Scallops lightly kissed with brown butter and complemented by cauliflower puree demonstrate the saloon's commitment to quality and flavor.

As you transition to the main course, the steak selection shines brightly. The Ribeye and New York Strip are highlights, both cooked to perfection and offering generous portions, all paired with your choice of two sides. The Ribeye, priced at US$21.95, is particularly noteworthy for its tenderness and rich flavor — the kind of steak that makes every bite feel like an event.

Don’t overlook the burgers and sandwiches either, where the American Burger steals the show. With its eight ounces of juicy beef, sharp cheddar, and the signature saloon sauce, this burger is a crowd-pleaser at just US$10.50. The attention to detail in every ingredient speaks volumes about the kitchen's dedication.

Customer reviews echo the same sentiment. Thomas Lawson was pleasantly surprised by the warm ambiance and friendly service, while Jenny G. highlighted the fantastic recommendations from their hostess, Ariyanna, which led them to dishes like the Reuben Roll and Cream of Crab Soup. Each plate brought flavors that resonated with comfort and nostalgia, truly embodying what it means to dine at a great American saloon.

Moreover, for events or celebrations, the saloon offers a banquet room where guests can enjoy the same exceptional cuisine in a more private setting. Michael Trzaska raved about how the staff catered to his surprise wedding reception, ensuring everything went smoothly while guests complimented the delicious food.

In conclusion, the Great American Saloon isn't just a restaurant; it’s a celebration of American culinary traditions, enhanced by a warm atmosphere, attentive staff, and a menu that respects both classic and modern taste preferences. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick bite or planning a special event, this saloon promises an unforgettable experience that keeps patrons coming back for more.

Wow! Came here on advice from a friend while in the area and it was awesome!! Being from Tennessee, was not expecting the layout and ambience. Would definitely recommend !!!

We decided to go to our local fav- The First Post but they had a 2 hr wait and we didn’t want to wait so we left. On the way out a very nice gentleman recommended Great American Saloon, he said that the owners were the same and the food was amazing and he was headed there too bc he didn’t want to be on the 2hr wait list at First Post. Both me and my husband were like well if the owners are the same the food will probably be the same too and decided to try this place! I first off have to praise our hostess- Ariyanna! She was absolutely fantastic. Like true definition of a perfect host! She kept checking on us, super friendly, attentive to detail, made great recommendations! She was amazing. As for food- spot on. Dinner rolls amazing. Reuben Roll- amazing, like if they made this into a sandwich I’d probably order one every week. Get this. Cream of crab soup- I was initially hesitant but Ari was like there’s tons of crab in it and she was definitely not kidding. Chunks of crabs in the small cup of soup. It was so flavorful, definitely a winter fall soup. MUST try. Definitely getting this again next time. American Burger- was very good! Get the saloon sauce on the side if you’re not a big sauce person, glad Ari recommended that bc the sauce was a bit overwhelming. It’s like a thousand island sauce. Other than that great classic burger. Gnocchi Carbonara- I’m not a big gnocchi person but my husband loved it. I personally loved the chicken and shrimp. It was seasoned so perfectly. If you like gnocchi get it this! Then we got a steak with a side of mashed potatoes and baked beans. Average steak. If you are a fan of the First Post you’ll love this place. I think the menu here might have more things but some of the items are the same as the First Post. Definitely same quality of food and similar atmosphere. Definitely recommend this place to others! I will definitely go back. And would like to thank the gentleman who told us about this hidden gem! And thank you Ari for being such a great host! :)

From start to finish, my first time dining here was well worth the curiosity. My family was warmly greeted by the restaurant hostess & our waiter was very polite and informative. My shrimp fettuccine alfredo entree was flavorful and filling- and our salads were nicely presented, appetizing, and fresh. The food portions are reasonable as well. I will indeed be coming back.

I had the ribeye. It was cooked perfectly and extremely tender. My daughter got the crab cakes. They were excellent. We had the crab dip and Mac and cheese appetizer. I had heard about this place but hadn't had a chance to go there. It's well worth the visit. I will be back. Usually I take pictures before I eat but I was with my 5-year-old granddaughter and her friend so forgot to take a before pick but very good.

My wife and I had a surprise wedding reception at The Great American Saloon’s banquet room. I can’t say enough good things about the amazing people there that helped us make a complicated surprise a reality. Lauren and staff (I wish I knew each of their names) set up the room based on my wife’s wishes and took all the pressure off of me. Any time we ran in to a problem (because I’m a bonehead) they quickly solved it with a reassuring confidence. Each staff member was extremely kind and personable. The food was AMAZING. Our guests were raving about the entire experience and it was because of the entire staff there. Don’t hesitate to book an event there!

This was our first time here, and everything was amazing! The crab soup is so good! Very rich and creamy - the only disappointment was that I got a cup rather than a bowl! I also got the twisted crab sandwich, which was great as well. My husband enjoyed all of the food too. And the waiter was nice, and the atmosphere was unique! Lastly, the prices were reasonable. Definitely recommend this place, and we'll be back for sure!

I have always had a soft spot in my heart for this place. I used to bring my children here when they were just past the kid seats old. We would play i spy with everyone getting a turn on what they spied with their little eyes. years later I had my sons rehearsal dinner here. Just today a night out with my oldest. dinner was great starting off with calamari, and wonton stickers. Both items exceptional along with the accompanying sauces. We both got a ribeye steak mine with the seafood topping extra cost and the other with onion and mushroom topping also extra cost. Everything was perfectly prepared.

This is a great spot. Good food, great atmosphere and top tier service. I would highly recommend checking it out if youre in the area and want something thar doesnt feel like recycled corporate garbage like many places are now today.
